Rapper slammed for sting-ray lyrics
The manager of Australia’s slain “Crocodile Hunter” Steve Irwin has slammed American rap singer Ras Kass for alluding to a stingray death while taking a swipe at a rival rapper in his new song.
The gangster rapper took aim at fellow rap artist The Game with a lyrical reference to Irwin’s dramatic September 4 death, in which he was stung in the heart by a stingray’s tail-barb as he snorkeled off the Great Barrier Reef.
During the track, Kass takes aim at The Game with the line “You’re the waste of LA… you the Crocodile Hunter, I am the stingray”.
Irwin’s longtime friend and manager John Stanton hit out at the line, saying it was “sad” and “disappointing”.
“I just find it a bit sad that people have to stoop to that. It is disappointing. I can’t understand the point of it. There are other references they can make that will put the point across.
“I just think it is a pity that people do have to use Steve or anyone who has died in tragic circumstances… as a form of entertainment,” he said.
