Jay-Z To Remove Cristal From Song Lyrics
Jay-Z is taking his campaign against his once tipple of choice, Cristal to the next level.
The feud between Mr Z and Cristal began when speaking to the Economist magazine, Cristal boss Frederic Rouzaud branded the relationship between hip hop artists and his refreshing beverage as ‘unwelcome.
He said: “(It’s) unwelcome attention. What can we do? We can’t forbid people from buying it. I’m sure Dom Perignon or Krug would be delighted to have their business.”
An outraged Jay Z has then made the decision to ban Cristal from his club and vowed to encourage others to do the same.
He said: “It has come to my attention that the managing director of Cristal, Frederic Rouzaud views the ‘hip-hop culture’ as ‘unwelcome attention’. I view his comments as racist and will no longer support any of his products through any of my various brands including The 40/40 Club nor in my personal life.”
In a performance this weekend it is believed that Jay-Z emit the word Cristal from all of his tracks after being encouraged to stand by his decision.
According top PageSix, he recently said; “The response from our customers at 40/40 has been incredible,”
“This weekend, we sold more bottles of Krug and Perrier Jouet than [ever] and we expect that trend to continue. They are great products and we are glad they have embraced us with open arms.”
Jay’s spokesman Ron Berkowitz added, “You can bet that Cristal will not be in Jay’s lyrics on Sunday. What will replace it, only he knows at the time, because he rhymes on the fly - so don’t be surprised to hear something different.”
Cristal have attempted to win back all the unwanted attention from the Hip hop community by issuing a statement to allhiphop.com that said: “A house like Louis Roederer would not have existed since 1776 without being totally open and tolerant to all forms of culture and art, including the most recent musical and fashion styles which - like hip-hop - keep us in touch with modernity.”
Too little, too late…
